no, that would make it stew. it is argued that tomatoes are permissible in chili because they're of the same family as peppers. onions and garlic are somewhat permissible in chili.

beans? no. when you add beans, it stops being chili, and become stew.

Wikipedia seems to think that chili is a stew, regardless of the beans that may or may not be in it. I don't use beans in my beef stew, does that mean it's not a stew? Chili fags like to say a lot of shit without understanding anything they say.

>> No.16786080

>>16786067

wikipedia is wrong. adding beans to a chili makes it a stew. stew doesn't need beans, but that's what it because when you take chili and add beans to it.

you don't understand this because you've probably never had chili, and are not knowledgable on the subject. chili is a recipe, beans are not in that recipe. that's not up for debate.

look dipshit, all you need to cite as a source is link it to something written on a website. but it doesn't matter that it could be wrong or a lie, bruh I cited a source it's canon now!

There was a story about an author trying to correct incorrect information on wikipedia and they wouldn't let him because even though he was the person that wrote the book and knew what was what in it "dude no source).

so he started a blog and wrote it up there then cited it. oh ok now it's good.

Are you retarded? Lots of those citations are to bullshit sources like a blog or hobbyist website that might not even be online anymore, not peer-reviewed academic journals.

Sometimes the citations aren't even relevant to the claim.

And even if it is to a peer-reviewed academic journal, it's not like "a peer-reviewed academic journal said it, therefore it's true". No, one has to look at multitudes of studies and interpret them. (For example, me citing one study about how wine is healthy, does not prove it's healthy.)

Some people think just because something has a citation, it's true.

The quality on Wikipedia varies a lot. On certain topics it can be very good, on certain topics very bad or straight out misinformation. The problem is unless you are an expert on a field, it will hard or close to impossible to find the faults without much effort.

A real encyclopedia will always be a better starting point than Wikipedia, since you can usually trust encyclopedia editors and writers a lot more than random people on the internet.
