Literally just Google the term pigs in a blanket. It's a breakfast sausage or hot dog wrapped in dough. It wouldn't make any sense for the blanket to be bacon, that's just pig wrapped in more pig. A blanket is a different material than your body, and the idea is that the bread dough keeps the sausage warm like a blanket, which bacon can't do.
