I'm vegan on caloric restriction and inadvertently protein restriction since fruits/vegetables are low in protein. Almost no fat in my diet either

So I found soy chorizo to be a good replacement for moderate vegetable protein and soy health benefits, though it's a bit high in fat and sodium. It still allows me to maintain protein restriction and not that much calories total consumed per day, and high fiber too I guess helps me to feel very satiated because I eat once a day just breakfast.

I used to eat a can of vegetarian chili beans everyday for it but now replaced with soy chorizo.

And it's delicious by itself like an icecream. Sometimes I crumble it up and mix with mushrooms or frozen vegetable packs, but not often.

Am I not supposed to eat a soy chorizo by itself? No one does this? Is this an addiction?

Great with scrambled eggs or as taco filling. I don’t know how else to use though.
Add to a quesadilla or top a queso fundido but what else?

yeah no cooking, I just have like 30 soy chorizos in the fridge, take one out everyday and eat it by itself from wrapper cold or room temperature.

Yeah I do concern about its high sodium and fat content.

But soy protein isolate isoflavones and phytoestrogens like genistein probably outweighs the risk.

And the ingredients aren't anything cytotoxic...how is it poisoning?

Mexican here.
Add chorizo to beans or lentils, everything mashed.

Spiced up enough that it doesn’t taste vegetable at all, just like regular chorizo instead. Slightly more crumbly before you cook it.

wait I thought soy chorizo is already cooked or no need to cook?

I just eat it cold by itself, or heat up some frozen vege or mushrooms and then add crumbled cold soy chorizo.

Cooking or microwaving it always made the texture worse and too dry from moisture loss.

Since it is made of soy there shoulnd't be any problem not cooking it but try it with beans and see how it is, just put plenty of it since it seems you really like the flavor.

yeah I like the flavor, sometimes with cooked mushrooms or frozen vegetable packets steamed. They're hot enough so I just add cold uncooked soy chorizo and it gets warm enough.

I do it to bulk up the portion without adding much calories, but most of times I just eat the soy chorizo by itself like a corndog.

>>16771828

If I buy regular chorizo to use in a dish I'll sometimes cut a big bit off, chop it into pieces and eat them as a snack. Eating one of these a day as your sole food sources seems like it would cause problems down the line though.

I don’t know you stupid shit I imagine the good folk at Reynaldo’s Mexican Food Company would not have written REMOVE CASING BEFORE COOKING, COOK BEFORE EATING, COOK TO 165*F BEFORE SERVING in all caps in the center of their label if they didn’t think it was possibly a not bad idea to do so but what do I know.

For longevity and health. It's more protein restriction completely avoiding animal protein, only consuming plant source amino acids.
