i don't know about that. i'm from bulgaria and greek is by far my favorite cuisine out of our neighbors but italian cuisine just has too much shit. so many regional variants of cheeses and cured meats and preserves and of course recipes, it's like orders of magnitude richer than what we have here. and all this shit is actually known and well studied and popular and offered at supermarkets and what not. yeah sure over here maybe every village has a different cheese or sosig variant but nobody outside of the village knows about it. and there might be interesting local recipes but nobody popularizes them so the cuisine is sort of incoherent. italian cuisine has the methodology, the technique, the high quality ingredients, everything down pat.

that said, i think it's very likely that greece does seafood better than italy

As an italian I can confirm that South italian cousine is overrated as fuck, it's tasty but it became a meme. Said that, I know absolutely nothing about Greek cuisine but I have been there and the food was ok. Last time I had a BBQ, a Greek friend brought a yogurt based creme his mother made and it was delicious so I guess it's a thumps up.
Now, on the other hand, I think Ouzo fucking sucks and nobody can convince me otherwise.
