I live near the one in Michigan, it's fast and good. They have like a dozen people working on the food and even though the drive thru is always packed the food is fast. Also when I was waiting a cute wagie gave me a free hotdog. That was cool

I used to go to the drive-thru one in River North Chicago every time I was there. But I tried the one in metro Detroit and it was meh. Too expensive to taste so bland. If I go back, I'll just stick with their Chicago style hotdogs. With all the Jersey Mike's opening all over, I don't think the Portillos beef sandwich is that unique or special -- just not worth going out of my way for or the wait for that matter.
