What is the best variation on fried pastry with savory filling. My vote is for samosa.

>> No.16750214

And you would by correct. Kolache are up there along with empanada. Both are fairly common fresh at bodegas where I live. But the samosa beats them out

I'm rather partial to the Cornish Pasty myself, but that may just be my Michigander blood talking.

The horn african sambusa is a great variation on samosa, but regular samosa are better. Kolache look great too.

I didn't know empanada could be fried. I've only ever seen them baked.
>>16750223
Baked again fool. What's the Michigan-pasty connection, though?

They’re deep fried in the same oil they use for the chicken here in New Orleans corner stores. Fuckin mint

I fry my pasties, but many people choose to bake them. I don't have a picture of my fried ones though, so I had to improvise. As far as the history goes, the pasty arrived in the late 1800s along with copper prospecting and mining in the upper peninsula.

I enjoy a baked pasty as much as the next guy, but I like the fried even more. The pastry ends up with a nice crispy texture and a great flavor.

I agree with you but I'm gonna suggest Spanish empanadas as a #2
