You can add it to certain things in Asian cooking and get pretty good results (teriyaki, pad Thai, peanut curry), although too much will give it away.

That's why we don't add white, refined sugar to meat loaf.
But in the case of ketchup, marinara, etc the sugar is meant to balance the tart acidity of the tomatoes.
For homemade marinara, I'll add sweet onions and/or minced carrots instead, but that doesn't make sugar "evil" in factory made foods.

Just a mediocre condiment all around and yet it's immensely popular due to aggressive marketing. Not very spicy at all and amounts to nothing more than a mildly spicy vinegar. All I can really think to apply it to are certain kinds of salads.

White nigger, "BBQ sauce" comes in at least a dozen varieties.
My favorite (for pulled pork) is North Carolina style: vinegar, roast peppers, roast onions, misc other to taste.
You gonna bitch about sugar, just make your own sauces.

ngmi, meatlet.
Not that anon, but c’mon friend. Damn near every culture in the world with a tradition of roasting or grilling meat has some sort of sauce they use for certain preparations, and those are more often than not a mix of sweet/savory, or just lightly sweet like when bronzeage-tier islanders baste a spit-roasting pig with coconut water.

Miracle Whip and Salad Cream are damn near identical in flavor.
I’d imagine MW markets itself as an “alternative to mayo” because most Murrikans aren’t going to have a clue what “Salad Cream” is, so describing it as such would be pointless. So they have to go with “yeah it’s kinda like mayo but not really”.

Salad cream is very tangy - the high vinegar content (comparitively) causes that. You could probably use it as a salad dressing if you wanted a thick creamy sauce with a decently acidic flavour. It's not as sweet as Miracle Whip despite despite what the thread may imply (yes, it has sugar in it, people saying otherwise are stupid).
Honestly? It's tasty. It's best uses are similar to mayonnaise - with some eggs or tuna it makes a decent low cost sandwich/filling/snack. As a regular condiment on things it's fine but it has its limitations like anything else.
If you've never tried it, buy a bottle, I'm sure it's affordable over in Murrica. Might just find something new to enjoy, even though /ck/ likes to argue everything is shit sometimes.

“Salad dressing” is a generic term nowadays used for things that are basically sauces added to salads made from greens.
“Salad cream” and “Miracle Whip” are ‘salad dressings’ in the sense that they would be used for “salads” in the sense of tuna, egg, chicken, potato, etc. salads.

>>16750264
I believe they contain the same amount of added sugar per serving, but the difference lies in Salad Cream being a bit heavier on the vinegar than MW. Personally I find them both enjoyable though; any application where one is good, the other seems to do perfectly well also.
