It's not abnormal to be curious about cannabis and psychoactives when you are young. Most people typically grow out of this phase, some return to it later in life, some are able to continue doing it in moderation and some fall through the cracks.

I was a DUDE WEED guy from ages 16-20 and continued with intermittent pauses until maybe 26 years old when I started my PhD. I stopped completely and started vaping and eating low dose edible for brief periods over the last few years but never really got into it very much. I still have lots of weed and edibles that I just ended up putting in the freezer because I don't have the desire anymore. I prefer a couple drinks to getting high now especially since I don't feel as sharp the next day and I'm a researcher and can't afford to be dulled.

Anyway I know many professionals (STEM profs, research technicians, lawyers, teachers, MDs) who get high. I don't think it's to distract them from poor quality of life. We all seek novelty and distractions at times and it can be for its own sake or a way to relieve stress or to compartmentalize things. If done in moderation and not a crutch it is perfectly healthy, probably more so than your online habits.

It's not about legality or comfort level or how you perceive it. It's about getting high at your place of employment and hiding it like a high school kid going back to class high.

It's just not the behavior of a mature, fully-functioning adult. It's one thing if you're some blue collar slob who can get baked or mildly drunk to do his retard factory or other menial work. But if you're a professional and still doing this kind of shit at work it's just not a good look and it doesn't matter if others know or not; it lacks dignity, professionalism and is unbecoming. I don't know how to say it in a way that doesn't come off as a stuffy pedantic prick but you get the idea.

I know plenty of professionals who get high, as I mentioned in a previous post, but they don't get high at work. It's the equivalent of sneaking outside and swigging from a bottle and taking breath mints to hide it from coworker. It's one thing to have a drink at lunch with coworkers or smoke weed with them at a function but doing it alone on work hours is lame as fuck. You need to drop the weed lmao attitude and develop some self-awareness. The fact that you tried to justify it by repeating your salary and where you work (the BIG LEAGUES - NYC baby!) shows that you subconsciously know it's trash behavior but try to convince others that the end justifies the means.

It doesn't. Sneaking around like a kid is a bad way to live for a variety of reasons. There is no pride or dignity in this.
