This is /ck/ we cook our meals even if it's a sloppa, or buy unhealthy fast food.

If you're going for gains isn't it pretty simple? Just weigh your food going in, and make sure you get enough protein. And make sure you reach your minimum amount.

ck eaters cook to their whims and moods, price be damned. Boring meal prep isn't going to be what we do, other than properly freezing leftovers to enjoy later in the week when it won't be boring.
I have squares of tamale casserole, lasagna, butternut squash n ham mac and cheese, and lots of bread in my freezer. I have bags of steam in bag edamame, brown rice, and my own made pork and ginger filled pot stickers for a quick meal at some point.
There's a half key lime pie from last weekend, and lots of ziplocs of crock pot cooked and bbq'd pork or my low cal cabbage soup. Homemade chicken stock from the pressure cooker.

That's what people in ck do, cook things they enjoy, not some container of broccoli unseasoned chicken breast and rice to repeat daily, how stupid is that?

Real answer: big bowl of chili. Adjust ingredients to ensure you're getting the nutrition you want. Personally I did a bunch of ground beef with red bell and poblano peppers since they about evenly supply 100% of the nutrients I need (everything except vitamin D, I live in a sunny area).

/fit/ can't cook for shit. Body builders and strength athletes can't season for shit. Plain chicken breasts and white rice for people that can afford it, thighs, brown rice, and cheap pasta for the rest.

The most convenient and cheapest way I've found is to get the 20 pound bags of air chilled chicken breasts at costco for ~ $2.75 a pound. I get them home, break them down, add a little bit of a marinade and seasoning to a vac bag, seal them, and sous vide the whole batch at the beginning of the week. Then you can just take a bag out and sear and be done with it.

You can keep rice in a rice cooker all day. Use broth instead of water. Add tomato paste if you want.

One of the things you can do this time of year is hit up garden centers for rosemary, thyme, and other herbs they're just blowing out. They'll be fresh and you'll pay a fraction of the price you would in the store.

As far as the sous vide recommendation goes, yeah, a vac sealer and sous vide machine are pricey up front but they'll last you a long time, they stretch your food dollars out pretty far, and they've been generally worth it to me at least.

If you're going to go the route of the above, you can use far fewer seasonings and fats in the bag that you would if you went other routes. A pat of butter or a tablespoon of olive oil and half the rest will do you.

It makes it harder to over cook things for sure, but the big one in this sort of situation is that you can take essentially $25 of chicken that's 20 pounds, prep it all in about an hour fully seasoned, throw it in the fridge, and have individual portions ready to go all week -- just sear it or throw it under a broiler.

Most of /ck/ types are more about the temperature control, etc that you get with this method, personally it's just a better crock pot for me.

Cook 14 pounds of ground beef (2 pounds per day) with plenty of your favorite seasonings.
Thoroughly mix in 56 eggs (4 eggs per day) toward the end so they don't overcook.
OPTIONAL: Add 4 ounces of diced liver to the whole 14 pounds of beef and mix in thoroughly. This will help fill in a few micros that beef and eggs aren't quite as rich in.

That's really all you need.

I pick up pic related, break down the breasts in half, then vac seal and cook. If you don't want to vac seal, you can use freezer bags you push the air out of.

1. Proteins: Buy large cuts of meat, like roasts, slow cook them for deliciousness, divide according to your needs, and freeze/fridge until needed. Buy either yogurt culture tablets and make your own yogurt, or simply add a quart of yogurt with active cultures to a gallon of milk you buy, heat, and cool. Takes like a day to convert a gallon of milk into yogurt, which can then be used as a snack with protein powder throughout the day / night.
2. Starches: Buy in bulk whenever you can. You can prepare a weeks worth of rice or beans, divide and fridge what you don't need. You can steam / bake potato and fridge what you don't need. They'll last at least a week in the fridge, if not longer.
3. Veggies and fruits: Your best bet for cost effectiveness is to buy bulk size bags of frozen veggies, then supplement with whatever fresh is on sale. Buy fruits that are in season, or in bulk. Cabbage is a super veg as they're cheap as fuck, versatile, and last a long time in the fridge. I always buy a head of red and white and eat it as slaw with apple cider vin and olive oil, or add it to cooked meals
4. Nuts: peanuts are pretty cheap in the bulk section of any decent supermarket. You can convert it to peanut butter by simply putting them in a processor. Just stay away from deez nuts.
5. Best protein sources for the price: Pork roasts and loins, whole chickens, chicken quarters, canned fish, beef roasts.

>> No.16716489

>>16716483
6. Spice and seasoning: Find an Asian market and buy whole spices in bulks sizes. Whole peppercorns, cloves, cumin, cinnamon, nutmeg, alspice, sea salt are examples. Don't buy the pre-ground shit in littel containers.
7. Use garlic, ginger, and hot peppers for seasoning.

Alright I think I'll do this and the beef/eggs route other anon mentioned.

I looked up the sous vide bag thing and it says the plastic is a gray area
>There currently aren’t any published studies specifically focused on the migration of chemicals in sous vide conditions, so you should sous vide only if you’re comfortable with the gray area surrounding the effect of chemicals in non-BPA plastics.

>Sous vide manufacturer ChefSteps recommends using food-grade vacuum sealing bags because they’re BPA-free and made of polyethylene (we like the ones made by FoodSaver). These bags need to be sealed with a vacuum-sealing system, which FoodSaver also makes. If you don’t want to pay for a vacuum sealing system, you can also use sturdy resealable freezer bags, like Ziploc ones made with low-density polyethylene.

If I use BPA free plastic it's safe, BUT have you ever noticed a plastic taste to your chicken?

Boil a lot of ginger, garlic, onion, spinach, carrot in stock until it's very soft. You can use any vegetables you like. When it's all soft, put it in a blender and liquify it. Put it back in the pot, add heaps of garam masala, cumin, curry powder. Then add a lot of yogurt. Let it cook for a while and taste it to check the flavour.

On the side cook up some chicken seasoned with whatever. Eat the curry over rice or not, and put chicken in there. I cook this on the weekend and eat it everyday for lunch.

1 can salmon
Juice from one lemon
Salt
Pepper
Half a medium onion chopped finely
Half of a bell pepper chopped finely
2 Garlic cloves chopped finely

I’m responsible for students so I don’t want them to get hurt in anyway not to mention I’ll get in trouble. So I teach them “how things should be” and feign expecting them to adhere to this but I basically look the other way when it comes to the stuff that’s mostly a formality. When it comes to genuine safe practices I am of course a hard ass and proponent but half the shit doesn’t make sense and can even be dangerous.

For example until recently wearing nitrile/latex gloves around an open flame or wearing a lab coat with non-snap buttons. Some people got messed up because of these safety precautions like burning nitrile gloves and not being able to quickly remove a lab coat on fire.

>Despite 4chan being full of teenagers and college students, fitness is for the wealthy.
>Either by a dedicated freezer and always cook 5x what you eat per meal so that after a week you have a choice of several frozen meals, or buy the fitness oriented microwave meals.

Yup. My kid is a linebacker. The only way I can keep him fed is this way, I don't even have room for ice in my freezer anymore. Costco is my friend.

After doing this for a good few years now, the reality is that doing 3000-5000 calories a day depending on the sport season is difficult to do over time. We can make and freeze things, but at a certain point, it's just fuel for him. It takes about as much dedication to make meals not suck as it does to put in the other effort.

>Ah. I might do it then if sous videing has a plastic risk. I can't have plastic, it converts to straight estrogen and would cost me gains. I'm a noob to all this so I need to do more research on it.

You're only ingesting plastic if you cheap out on things. If you can't afford a vac sealer and have to use ziploc bags, use freezer bags which are more expensive, but have the heat tolerance.

Even then, you're going to sear after the the immersion which by many processes is going to nuke anything on the outside of your meat. This isn't the case for other sous vide applications like eggs or tempering chocolate, but with meat you're going to get the shit out of the bag, hit it with a hot cast iron or a heat gun (totally recommend) and anything on the surface is done.

The plastic isn't going to impregnate the meat, if that was the case we'd all not wear polyester. We're also talking about microscopic amounts here, if the bag was really breaking down like that, it wouldn't last through the cooking cycle and you'd have a gallon of bad soup rather than perfectly cooked meat.

Chicken, sweet potato, random vegetable. For breakfast have eggs, oats, or yogurt with some granola. There you go.

I'm just speculating but I would imagine for consistency and to make macros is to cook in 3 day increments. To have leftovers for 2 day windows. That way you can spend rest days doing meal prep and then you can simply reheat before/after excercise.

I plan on bulking when I come back home and I want to incorporate more liquids/smoothies to make it easier. But the problem ofc is the constant cleaning that would be required. If I am supposed to eat absurd amounts above 3k calories then it would take scaling up the meal prep.

I imagine it would be way more simpler for people who just need to cut. Diet is the thing that always keeps me from sticking to exercise. I never eat enough

Bodybuilders are already autistically dialed in on the schedules, no need to lock down the little time they can say yes to unplanned social interaction.
