It does more to protect your bread than a cloth mask does to protect you.

This feels like something that would help me forget I have bread and when I open it up a couple weeks later, it would be a moldy mess inside.

it is dark, mostly enclosed and the holes offer air flow, minimizing the growth of mold. Put it some place cool and mold will take much longer to take hold. It won't do anything about staling however.

refridgerator is cold enough that it encourages glucose to crystalize, encouraging your bread to stale faster. I like bread soft so I keep it in a cupboard

>> No.16670613

i remember when my mom bought a cheap one years ago, it made the bread smell like whatever finish or lack therof the thing had. the thing looked really rough and like it was made of pressed wood pulp.
whenever i roll around the house these days the bread doesn't have that smell but at the time i thought it was funny.
i don't need a breadbox, since i live alone and can't finish a whole loaf of bread before it goes moldy so i just keep it in the fridge.

This. You can freeze freshly baked bread and it would be just as fresh when you heat it later in the microwave

It does though. It stores bread. It’s like a special little cupboard just for your bread. It’s cute.

I bake bread loaves every weekend. I let it rest for a few hours, then I slice it into individual pieces and freeze them. I feel like the bread would go stale too quickly in a breadbox
