You have to rethink the way you use your fingers and let them cooperate with the sticks as extensions of the posture of your fingers--maybe try thinking of them as augmentations where your fingers stop being fingers as you're used to them. Look up photo diagrams and pay special attention to where the fingers fit against the stick, how far one of the sticks is clamped between the thumb and pointer finger, etc. Also, you should only be moving the top stock.

I mean this isn't the only way to use them. Like you can twirl noodles on them like you would with a fork when eating spaghetti, but its a good starting ground.

everyone tells me, I use them 'wrong'...

but I like to use them, and I can quickly grab stuff without problem

(one time I accidentally derailed an entite thread, by mentioning I like them to eat döner kebab...
I wasn't trolling.)

I let one rest on the middle finger, and grab the other one with index finger and thumb. and move this one around.

I used to think chopsticks were retarded until I learned to use them (takes about 30 seconds).
they are like stick tongs.

I press the ring finger into the side of the lower chopstick to make it solid, then I use my middle finger to control the top chopstick.

I have that and I modded the drum, its sensitive enough that I actually could play it with chopsticks and I will legitimately try that but this thread will probably be dead before I can report back.

pointy chopsticks are chink tier ustensils. get started with thicker, non laminated/bamboo chopsticks, easier to use and you don't look like a wannabe faggot in the process.

>> No.16646800

There is a specific technique. I was doing it wrong for years. I could pick up anything with perfect accuracy, even really slippery things like fish balls. But after using them like this for the better part of a decade, my little finger and ring finger started to ache when using them. I finally tried to learn the 'proper' way. I can do it now but I never feel the same confidence as my old technique. It's shitty but the best thing is to, no matter what, get the proper technique first. Otherwise you're in for trouble later.

If your hand becomes injured form using chopsticks, it's time to switch to a fork. We only use them at Asian restaurants because it's a novelty. Like "ooh some asian food that you eat with sticks, that's a fun experience". In reality it's a lot better to just eat every Asian food with a fork or spoon.

>> No.16648114

>>16644749
this is also how I do it, I didn't even realize there was a "proper" way until the images in this thread
Maybe its because I have big hands but my fingers just get in the way resting it on my ring finger, I feel like there's more control doing it the way you describe, that's how I've always used them.
