Fast food places should remove the dining room and replace it with extra drive thru lanes

I'd only be okay with this if they accepted walk ups. The only time I want fast food is when I'm hammered, and it's very irresponsible for these companies to force me to drive drunk just to get a nasty greasebomb meal. There is literally no reason why I can't walk up to the Taco Bell across the street from me at 2 am and get my tacos, yet I'm forced to drive there.

>> No.16632169

I ate in a Del Taco on a short trip with my dad in the middle of the month, because he didn't want to eat in his fancy car. I was amazed to see maybe 10-15 people eating inside on a Friday at 2-3 PM.

>> No.16632963

This “starting to consider” nonsense is an absolute joke.
The major fast food chains have been wanting to find a plausible way to do away with dine-in since the first day of chinkflu shutdowns. Because they quickly realized how much better their profit ratio became.

If I was a franchise owner, I’d be all over the idea. I’d be crazy not to.

Think about it.
>You own “McAnon King’s in the Box n-Out”
>Your burger/fry/drink combo costs $5
>Drive-thru customers pay $5 for said combo. So do dine-in customers. Because that’s how it works.
>Drive-thru customers give you $5 and your window-wagie gives them their combo, with the prescribed number of napkins and sauce packs, and they drive away.
>Done.

>Dine-in customers give you the same $5, and one of your several counter-wagies (because slow lines mean calls to corporate) that you have to pay to serve dine-in customers gives them their combo.
>And then the customer goes to the fountain/condiment area and fills their drink. They also grab 10x the napkins and condiments they actually need, 90% of which will end up in the trash
>And they (and their 4+ kids) refill their drink multiple times, plus an extra topped-off refill “for the road” when they leave
>And you have to pay your wagies to constantly clean up the dining area after these slobs
>And you have to pay your wagies to constantly clean up the the bathrooms these people fuck up
>And you have to pay your wagies to constantly clean up the mess these people leave with spilled shit all over the fountain/condiment area
>Done. Hopefully.

Of course you’d jump at any possible reason to convert to drive-thru-only. It’s not like 30+ years ago when families would go to a place like McAnon King’s in the Box n-Out, dine-in, and actually behave like decent people.

>5 years, the average fast food restaurant is going to be just 3 wagies locked away in the restaurant
Yes. Because that’s what both workers and customers have been pushing for. Higher pay. More efficiency.
So the wagies will be entry-level specialized tech workers who manage/maintain the burgertron9000.
Anyone who works in a large office will understand the comparison of “that kinda slow guy who was certified as a tech by Xerox and basically reports to the machines themselves because they automatically ping him when there’s a malfunction or they need their supplies replenished, and we give him a decent salary (compared to what he could otherwise earn with his non-existent qualifications) because it’s cheaper than having to pay 3rd party service techs on an as-needed basis ”.
That will be the fast-food worker of the future.

There's a gang of old guys who meet at McDonalds every morning except Sunday. They sit in the back and drink coffee and always get weirdly quiet when you pass them on the way to the john.
The unspoken-yet-acknowledged town fact is that they are the secret elders who run the town.

The fuck would I drive up to some guys window instead of walking into the restaurant? Do I want to eat under a tree? In my fucking car wtf? No. You eat inside because it's hot and warm when you get the food fresh, comfortable seat and table and it's climate controlled.

I haven't used the drive-through since the 90s when I first got a car and I thought it was cool. Ive been with lazy asses in their cars when they used the drive through though.

Also, how the fuck do you have time to look at the menu when you drive up? They need two signs. If you go inside, you can just stand aside and say go ahead.
