I always make grilled cheese on a pan
just butter the bread beforehand and go to town, or put the butter in the pan if its cold

Nah, I can make a grilled cheese just fine.
Really though, they're meant to be made in a frying pan despite their name. You just squished all the cheese out of it.

assemble cheese sandwich
butter the top
melt some butter in a pan on medium heat
place sandwich in
toast the bottom golden brown
flip sandwich
press down on it a little with the spatula if you want to
don't use too much heat or you'll finish the bread before the cheese is melted

The secret to a great grilled cheese is to not crush the bread. Never crush the bread anon. Use soft butter to coat the bread so you don’t crush it and never ever push down on it.

>> No.16633763

>>16633120
If you only have that press maybe don't push down so hard, just let it have enough pressure to warm both sides of the sandwich. Also try using mayo instead of butter on the outside of the sandwich just as good if not better than butter and spreads easier without tearing the bread.

Assuming you something like pic related op, it’s what I have. The top is too heavy for a grilled cheese with regular sandwich bread and it’ll just push all the cheese out. Use firmer bread next time or don’t keep all the weight in it. Also If you have a roomate don’t let them use it because they never fucking clean it

Today i made nuggies and when i ground the chikki at the end i put in potato to get the rest out of the meatgrinder but i turned the knob too much and then little bits of potato were in my nuggies but it was fine in the end as they were a tasty and crispy and not raw potato.

Uh-uh
>set butter at room temp
>butter one side of each bread slice
>place butter side down over med-low heat
>lightly butter upside of bread while cooking
>when underside is golden brown, flip
>immediately add cheese and whatever else you want to one half
>flip one piece over to make sandwich
>press gently
>cook underside to golden brown again
>flip when satisfied with color, texture
>adjust heat (raise if cheese is already melting on last flip to finish bread quicker, lower if cheese is still cold to let things finish up inside)
>serve with tomato soup
I like ham and mayo inside mine

It look like this

>> No.16635479

What cheese did you use OP? If you're just using regular white bread, and american cheese, I highly recommend some real mayonaise on the insides of the sandwich. Always use butter on the outside. The mayonaise kinda cuts through the creaminess of the softer cheese and gives it a nice zing. Also, try it with different meats inside as well. I love tinned tuna (all the water pressed out) in a mayo spread with some diced pickles or relish as a filler in my grilled sandwiches.
