How the fuck do I learn how to cook? I’m fucking tired of my unhealthy eating habits but I’m floored on how to prepare a week’s worth of meals for myself. Yes I’m an American zoom zoom killing myself with ramen as I struggle through a college education I don’t need.

I just googled recipes at first and then eventually I started tweaking them to the point that they became my own thing. Eventually, you won't even bother caring about measurements (unless you're baking) because you'll be able to taste as you go and notice if your dish is lacking a specific seasoning. Start with easy stuff like that you can simmer for hours like chili and beef stew.

Pretty much pick a dish you want to make and try to follow a recipe, then try to figure out why any fuck ups happened. Youtube some basic knife skills too.

In 4th-6th grade I watched Good Eats every day. Two episodes since that's what the TV recorded. I must've watched them all 4 or 5 times at least. I didn't even cook, I just liked learning about shit.
That's how I got my basics down.

If you're really wanting to get thrown in to cooking fast then apply for a prep cook job. If not then just start with simple things like egg dishes and rice dishes, they're both incredibly versatile and you can buy them in bulk for cheap. Experiment with seasonings and vegetables and learn how to break down your meat if you can, a small fryer chicken can give you about five meals and if you keep the bones of three of them you can make chicken broth for soups and stews. Cooking is easy, anon, cooking well is difficult, do not be afraid to experiment with different flavours and seasonings.

Started out making my own pizza base from scratch, then learnt to make sauce, then kfc chicken, then chow mein. After a while when you get good shit just becomes addictive and a productive way to spend time that keeps me away from drugs

Get butter, spices you like, oils you want
Start by panfrying something. Watch a guide on Youtube, once you got that down get a pot and make stews and chili.
That or get an instantpot and just have food made ez.

So don't, nerd. Even I don't make a week's worth of food and I've been cooking for the past decade.
I didn't do dorm life so I won't try to give you a specific answer because other anons will, but you need to realize you don't need to prep the week's meal or even cook every single day. Nobody does that. You're just spooking yourself.

Literally google a healthy meal plan that has recipes, then follow those recipes. Look I'll throw you a freebee.
You will need
>1 salmon filet
>A bag of brussels sprouts
>1 sweet potato
>salt, pepper, cajun seasoning, olive oil
Preheat oven to 400F.
While it's preheating, take half that bag of brussels sprouts and rinse them if they aren't pre-rinsed.
Cut off the stems, then slice them in half.
Put the halved brussels sprouts in a bowl, drizzle them with a little olive oil, then add a little salt and pepper- just a little; use your best judgement.
Put aluminum foil over a baking sheet (I like to crinkle the foil a little so the food doesn't stick as much), then place the sprouts on the sheet flat side down. Assuming you didn't overdo it with the salt and pepper, put a little more salt and pepper over the brussels- again, use good judgement and don't overdo it.
Bake for 30-40 minutes depending on size.
When the oven has about 15 minutes left, heat up a skillet on medium heat and drizzle just a splash of oil in the pan.
While the skillet is heating up, dry up the salmon with cajun seasoning until it's thoroughly coated.
Once the skillet is hot, cook that bad boy about 4-5 minutes on each side and jostle it every 45-60sec to keep the skin from sticking to the pan.
While the salmon is cooking, rinse the sweet potato thoroughly then poke a bunch of holes in it with a fork.
Microwave for like 5 minutes, then give it a poke. If it isn't nice and soft yet, keep microwaving 1 minute at a time.
By this time, everything should be done at roughly the same time,
Bingo bango, that's one healthy meal.

buy cheap meat in bulk, divide up and freeze it until the day before you want to cook it, let it thaw in the fridge over night
the very basic: add salt, cook it low and slow, if chicken, pork or ground beef cook until the fluids run clear/not red or pink, and the inside is not red/pink. If steak, just don't until you know what you're doing, don't waste good money on something you'll ruin if you don't know how to cook yet
if veggies: you don't really have to cook them unless it's beans. If you want to cook them the best way is covered in butter with a bit of salt and pan fry or bake+broil in an oven (works really well with brussels sprouts)
repeat and tweak as necessary. If shit sticks to the pan you need to turn down the temp and wait and/or use more oil
