They call them instant noodles, but there's no other kind of noodles besides instant.

I don't get it.

These can be prepared by just soaking in boiling water for a couple minutes. Non-instant noodles need to be cooked at a rolling boil for nearly 10 minutes to be palatable.

Huh?
These are fried, regular noodles are not.

they're the same people that make dinner threads and post their poverty tier "dinners" that usually consist of instant ramen, a soda, and maybe some chicken nuggets on the side

In Chinese they're called convenient noodles which makes sense

why is japanese cuisine so hilariously bad?
the main staple dish of nipponland is sushi which is literally just fish on rice
their curry is just watered soup
ramen is just inferior version of authentic Chinese noodles
even instant noodles is taiwanese (Chinese) and not from japan

why could the nips not make a satisfactory cuisine?

i'll take the bait

instant noodles are pre-fried in oil so that they will cook boiled water in a matter of minutes. plain dried noodles take considerably longer and have to actually be boiled to cook, they won't soften if you just pour boiling water over them and cover.

I hope that answers your question.

I never really thought about it but I guess you're right. Even boil-type instant noodles can be cooked by soaking in hot water, they just come out a little spongier than boiling. But regular dried noodles will never soften from soaking in hot water, they just become paste.

I demand noodles THIS INSTANT
