Easily the best of any national food. Faggots on this board say burgers like an insult when it's genuinely the best food conceived by, for, and of America.

Japan runs a close 2nd with their curry. That shit is good.

It's 100% the hot dog
Based on the European Wurst, is elevated into a piece of legendary Americana cuisine with the replacement of the traditional sausage with a processed, rubbery, industrially-produced cylinder made of questionable waste meats, which vaguely resembles the sausage in shape.

It encapsulates American culture - the elevation of European traditions and customs through commodification, downgrading of core components and mass industrial production for the purpose of capitalistic profiteering. It is the epitome of American culture. Better yet, the garnish provided with the hot dog even resembles natural pickle condiment commonly called "relish", yet is presented in an unnaturally, industrially modified neon-green hue, treated with unknown chemicals to achieve the color, which is considered to be desirable by Americans. This gives the American hot dog its flare and its unmistakably American identity.

You might argue Hamburgers resemble this. However, you can still make a Hamburger with meat that comes from acceptable sources which has not been pulverized into a liquid and reshaped into the desired shape. But you can't make a hot dog with a sausage of adequate quality because, once the mystery "meat" cylinder is replaced, the hot dog ceases to be a hot dog and reverts to its ancestral form, the Wurst. You can't serve an American hot dog without the brightly luminous relish without compromising its integrity.

For these reasons, the hot dog is the most American food there is. Period.

I get what you're saying, however I've never seen relish that looks like that, relish looks like this. Mustard is probably the overall more popular condiment for a hot dog, relish may be more common than ketchup however

Barbecue, according to research done by The Smithsonian, began during the Colonial Era in Virginia. Colonists observed Native Americans smoking and drying meats over an open flame. Then, the British settlers put their own spin on it with basting, using mostly butter or vinegar, to keep the meat moist while grilling over an open flame. Years later, as slaves from the Caribbean were brought to the U.S., they also brought their own flavors, spices, and techniques. Thus, barbecue was born.

why is japanese cuisine so hilariously bad?
the main staple dish of nipponland is sushi which is literally just fish on rice

even instant noodles is taiwanese and not from japan

why could the nips not make a satisfactory cuisine?

Chicago are great, but you've got to be realistic.
I can't but poppy-seeded buns, so I've got to sprinkle a little poppy seed on.
I can't get sport peppers, so i mince up banana peppers.
And I ain't dying no relish.
But I do love me some Chicago dogs.
