I bought these once to try them and I thought I was eating a completely different fruit. Totally bland, dissolved on the tongue like mildly flavored water pressed into a mold. Imagine a dystopian world if you will (doesn't take much imagination atm), where with every ration of soylent and bug meal pancakes, you are served an artificial apple. This is how it would taste like. You'd share my opinion if you grew up picking fresh apples from the neighbor's trees.

Growing up they always tasted like shit where I was from. But then one time at a super discount grocery store I bought a bag of red delicious just because they were absolutely fucking massive. Like the biggest apples you've ever seen. They were the size of a small child's head. They were really crisp as well. I think I liked them mostly for the novelty of how large they were.

The skin is very waxy and sticks to your teeth, and the actual flesh is mealy and very bland.
There's a million better apple varieties nowadays, even if you don't want to go full hipster Macintoshes and Fujis are right there.

Excellent tastes anons. For me it's Gala = Honeycrisp > Fuji > Ambrosia > Cortland > idk some of the lesser ones. Honestly though if there's only Red Delicious available I'll take it and sometimes it's not that bad, especially cut up into thinner slices.

Any pear fans here? I eat a Bosc or Bartlett almost every single day. And has anyone tried the Cosmic Crisp apple yet? I haven't seen them in stores yet and would love to try one.

I used to go with braeburns by default, but I had a few bad ones that were kinda mealy and not very juicy so dropped them. If your apple ain't crisp and juicy I'm not interested.

Honeycrisps taste syrupy and hot. Really hate them. Pink ladies are like candy, but feel unnatural. The Cortland is the apple for me!
