Brewdog and Stone Brewing are weird cases culturally. They both got caught right on the cusp of the shift from "it's cool to like non-mainstream beer styles, and shit on big money American Adjunct Lagers" and "beer snobbery is gay soiboy shit." I'm not American, and they have a type of beer I really like but can't find any examples of in Canada. It's a really malty, not fruity IPA. Examples would include Dogfish Head 90 Minute, Bell's Two-Hearted, and Founder's Centennial. They rule. Our stores are packed with shitty fruity hazy IPAs instead. I have several friends who just went back to drinking macros because our craft beers are all fruit juice + ethanol. I also like saisons; Boulevard's Tank 7 and Goose Island's Sofia are good ones.
Quebec also makes a lot of good stuff, a lot of it Belgian-inspired, but I haven't been allowed to go there either. Anyway, sorry for the rambling, regional-focused answer.

DFH 60 Minute and Bell's Two Hearted are great.
I dunno about "ruined," but seltzers have definitely had an influence. I noticed this summer that Stella was packaging their 355mL beers in skinny little White Claw-style cans.
Alcopops have always existed though; for my generation it was Mike's Hard Lemonade and 4Lokos. Hard seltzers are just the zero-cal iteration, an alcoholic mirror reflection of LaCroix and its imitators growing profitable.
