Food/food-related products you see in the supermarket that make you cronge.

Aside from pic I've also seen potatoes wrapped in tin foil, sealed onto a foam tray marketed for grilling. I wish I had taken a photo because I can't find one. That one is probably my favorite, though.

>> No.16560036

why does this one make you "cronge"? because it's called "just egg" and there is no egg, or because it's like $6-$8 for 12oz of mung bean paste with tumeric?

I bought a bottle once because curiosity and it tastes good. too expensive to buy again but i would absolutely try to make my own egg replacement from mung beans in the event I couldn't access real eggs.

For me it’s a bit of both. Expensive luxury food replacements marketed as sustainable always appear to try to hard, along with being unnecessary.
>I struggle to imagine a situation in which you’d have access to mung beans and the ability to process them, but not a single chicken.

>> No.16560138

>>16560098
how does it have zero added sugar but also sugar is an ingredient? I thought it was too sweet compared to an egg.

I guess in my imaginary scenario I can't go to the grocery store or there's a random egg shortage, and I would have dried mung beans in storage like I usually do and I still wouldn't own any chickens. you only need a blender and a couple ingredients to make a slightly less processed version of "just eggs".

OP. Its the latter, and that I can picture someone buying this thinking that theyre making a difference despite the resources it takes to produce and ship said product. I have a strong opinion on sustainability and making things myself instead of buying a serving portion in a bottle for convenience. If I want an egg alternative I'll figure it out on my own.

Because of a food item has less that a certain percentage of an ingredient, it legally doenst have to be listed in nutritional facts. That's why a single serving list for Clear American can have 0 calories per serving bit 10 calories if you drink the whole bottle
