I am disappointed that there was no picture of beans fucking.

My LGS recently started carrying Batchelors products in the import aisle, the beans were better than Heinz and were also like 10c cheaper. I got a can of mushy peas too but I have no idea what to do with them. Put them on toast or something? This seems like a thread that would attract Brits so I figured I should ask.

I actually made some beanz as a side to the bangers and mash I made for dinner last night.

I basically looked up a bunch of recipes for British heinz-style beans and improvised from there. I soaked navy beans in salt and fried up some onion, bay leaf, a jalapeno, and a cinnamon stick in fat before dumping in the beans to boil. The sauce was tomato paste, chicken stock and stock from the beans, ketchup, brown sugar, whole garlic, sage, salt, pepper, garlic and onion powder simmered until thickened, then I combined with the beans and added a cornstarch slurry.

I was really happy with how they turned out. Was really surprised by how prominent the cinnamon was in the final product. It almost gave it a Christmas-like flavor, but I might leave it out next time for a more tomato-forward flavor.
