The average American consumes yearly 50% of his bodyweight (average 269 pounds) in corn syrup. How is this even possible?

>> No.16517980

Half of Americans consume 100%, that's how

If that includes HFCS it would not be at all shocking to me because of soft drinks.
Also 50% (avg. 269 lbs) made it seem when I first read it that it was implying the average American was over 500 lbs which made me laff.

if you include sugar im sure I was up there, I drank a lot of juices, and nestea (nestea is corn syrup right)

last 2 months I have only drank sparkling water, and coffee with cream

Addendum
Half of the average weight provided is 134.5.
That's 61,000g apx.
Mountain Dew has 77g of carbohydrates per bottle in the form of HFCS.
If all of the persons intake of HFCS is from Mountain Dew, they would have to drink a little over 2 bottles/day, every day, for a year.
For that reason, I'm not surprised at your numbers and trust them wholeheartedly because no Paulie poster would ever let me down.

How? Seriously? Have you walked into a Walmart Supercenter in the last 15 years? 90 percent of the grocery products have HFCS or processed sugars in them to some degree. Combine this with the fact that most Americans are overworked, stressed out, and making shit wages, they go to Walmart and buy food that doesn't crack their budget while not taking more time than needed, which is what happens if you decide to hit up ethnic/farmers markets, or you want to garden or something like that.

If Americans had more free time and higher wages, this trend might actually go down because people might seek to engage in exercise for pleasure, and eating and acquiring healthier food.

I agree. I wouldn't be surprised if the actual data shows consumption to be substantially higher.
I just like The Sopranos.

Soda is probably the biggest culprit.

After spending over a decade in a grocery store I'm honestly surprised it's that low considering the garbage most people buy.
