Don't do frozen food in case of power outage. Buy beans, flour, rice and oats. dried fish from asian store will save your life because retards won't know what the fuck to do with it.

jarred marinara, dried pasta, italian sausages, ground beef, various cheeses, eggs, milk, butter, cream, bread crumbs, dried herbs, olive oil, garlic, chicken breast, etc.

last lockdown we rearranged these ingredients in a bunch of different ways to make it feel like we were eating more variety than actually existed lol

one night was lasagna, the next night might be italian sausages with marinara and spaghetti, another night is ground beef ragu with rigatoni, yet another night is stuffed manicotti with marinara, make a simple fettucine alfredo with parmesan, cream and butter and grilled chicken, pound a piece of chicken and bread it and deep fry for some chicken parm, etc. we also made some italian sausage pizzas and calzones.

also works with taco bell inspired dishes.

for backup, you really need some crackers, peanut butter, dried fruits and nuts, tuna pouches, etc. on hand

I’m pretty sure the American people are going to ignore a newly mandated lockdown. People were already starting to not give a fuck after the last one.

I do think it's great and also good practice to keep a pantry with some essentials in case of an emergency, but this idea that it will all collapse and you need a bunker or something, otherwise you will be eaten alive by radioactive cannibals or whatever has proven time and again to have hoarding and OCD undertones. During COVID lockdowns nobody was found living off of canned beans because it was all they had, everybody had food, and the short term supply chain disruptions were quickly solved. Just realize that there are many people and businesses that profit from this obsession, they even sell you buckets full of stuff you will never eat and that will end up in the trash.

What if you lose your car or driver license and want to use the bus as little as possible, or you are under quarantine or house arrest because you thought she was over 18?.

No shit. Make friends with someone from the depression era or trained to prep/can by someone who was. My wife's G-ma is 93 and could live to be 114 with the shit in her basement alone.

Stores in Minneapolis are downsizing, they are replacing normal shelves with shorter or more shallow shelves so it looks like they are full.

Just buy more of what you eat. I have a two week supply (what my government recommends) of food I regularly eat, just keep rotating the stock so that I eat the old stuff first and and new stuff is put to the back of the cupboard.

No point in buying a ton of rice if you don't like rice and then just let it rot, it's jsut a waste of money, time and food.

Make sure you have enough condiments., nobody thinks about the minor things like ketchup, salt and sugar, but they are often actually essential for morale. It took months until my favorite brand of ketchup was back on the shelves again.

This.

Let's say I'm going to cook lentil curry. I already have all the ingredients I need at home, but I go to the store and buy everything I would need, then when I get home I use up the old stuff and put the new stash in its place.

Now take this strategy and work your way up to having a multiple-meal buffer, so that you have enough stuff on hand to cook a meal 10x or 20x (depending on how often you will eat it and the shelf life of the ingredients), then simply continue the same strategy with replacing stuff each time you use it. Voila, now you have a rotating supply of 10x cookable meals that will never be wasted.

Spam have a long shelf life, and can be pretty tasty if you fried it with some eggs.
