6 months old probably would be best. Feed it a poi diet. Lots of starches and grains to make the dog fat and lethargic. Bonus points if you can get tons of milk.

Nah no small cages. You want some exercise. Young used muscles have superior flavor to unused muscle. Keep them in a small backyard like most people keep their pet dogs.

And remember, 6 months. They are pretty much at full size but their bones and muscles are still tender. Increase feed at the 5 month mark. Maybe experiment and add something like beer to the dogs food to create more fat around the organs.
