How come American's were able to upgrade and reinvent every food item they got their hands on, when no such culinary advancements took place back in England?

All I know of Australian cuisine is that you guys buy your sausages at the hardware store, and that your favorite snack, Arnott's Shapes, changed their recipe just to dab on you fuckers, and you hate it but still choke them down because its tradition.

Reminder that one time someone here on /ck/ submitted a toast sandwich like this to the cooking competition and all the cu/ck/s fawned over it like a bunch of Reddit faggots and votes it the best dish of the week.

Also, consider how many snags have been cooked on those ancient barbecues at Bunnings, you have the accumulated flavor of gorillians of snags and onions imbued into every sausage you get

It's slowly emerging as a strange intersection of food, somewhat like Filipino in the unexpected combinations. Most expect Australian cuisine to eventually be an East-meets-West fusion (get fucked Neil Perry), but having worked in a number of respected restaurants within Australia I'm of the mind the really good shit we have going on is closer to an old-meets-new fusion. That absolutely ace chefs in Australia are playing around with old dishes made with new techniques or compositions, or vice-versa

The prices are so hilariously inflated, you can get nice british food elsewhere cheaper in the country.

Supersizing or slathering it in batter/butter and sticking it into a deep fryer is not 'upgrading' anything.

While I hate fat people like everyone else, hear me out here,
In the USA, food is so cheap and widely available to the point where almost anyone can get fat. Nearly all of us are fed, if not overfed. Historically speaking, this would mean the nation is rich as fuck, in it's golden age.
People can afford an overabundance of food & drink? Check.
People have all the commodities they could ask for, with all sorts of options? Check.
The country has a strong military presence? Check.
The entire world is concerned about our politics and everything out government does? Check.

Your typical US citizen is fat because our country can afford for us to be. While I won't say we've beaten you, I at least hope I made a point here. We're all so well fed and taken care of that we don't care.

I have to admit you made a good point. but stll I wouldn't use obesity as country wealth indicator. as I read there is a high rate of obesity in Mexico too and I think we both agree that they are not doing very good
