What I remember as chinese food growing up as a young kid in Hong Kong

>turtle/shark fin soup
>fried chicken feet
>pig uterus noodles
>fried rice with pork knuckle gristle
>unidentifed fish balls on a stick
>boiled dog meat
>one time, monkey brains

Americans have no idea how bad it really is. No one in china knows what the fuck beef and broccoli is or sweet and sour pork. Chinese food is disgusting. Literally the worst parts to eat of any animal. Makes sense because chinks are the race of humans closest to animals. They make disgusting noises when they eat, slurp everything, men in the streets lift their fucking wife beaters over their sweaty stomachs while laughing and chewing with their mouths full of food. Like what kind of idiot decided 2 sticks is the most practical way to eat grains of fucking rice. Starving Nigerians who eat grass have a better diet than the average chinese.

White bros, I don't wanna interrupt your thread for too long; yes I can read I get the point of this thread, but I'm just here to tell you that there is a world outside of the Jewish American (yes, Americanized Chinese food is a Jewish creation, most jews go to Chinese restaurants for Christmas and they wanted food that would fit an American Jewish palate, have you ever wondered why none of these dishes have any pork) Chinese food.

Guys just think about what you're eating; they jam a shit load of sugar and HFCS into every dish and it all ends up with a sickly sweet sugary glaze on everything. I can understand why you guys like it, but there are alternatives.

First of all, any Chinese restaurant with the words "China", "Star", "Buffet", "Wok", "Express", and "Chopsticks" are gonna be your American Chinese restaurants. If you don't care and just want your orange chicken and egg roll combo, well now you know what to look for, but there are more authentic Chinese dishes that still match the American palate. Not all authentic Chinese food is boiled dog assholes or whatever you're thinking.

pic related is my go to order at the best Chinese restaurant near me. From left to right: 椒鹽豆腐/Sichuan Pepper and Salt Tofu, 重慶辣子雞/Chongqing Fried Chicken, 乾扁四季豆/Sichuan Style Green Beans, 水煮牛/Beef in spicy broth (beef strips cooked in a spicy Chinese broth). This meal is totally in line with the American palate; its got fried stuff and the spices are good to balance the meal. You can probably find all 4 of these items at your local Chinese restaurant; look specifically for Sichuan places.

Total cost: $45; enough food for me and a few friends, or just myself with leftovers just for me for a few days. Of course it's pricier than just getting a "#6 combo with extra fried rice", but again you can have leftovers. Don't let your fear of the unknown stop you from trying actually good authentic Chinese food. Try ordering Pic related next time

Here's a better Pic of the plate. I only ever go with white rice. In Chinese dining etiquette (look away now if you don't care, I understand if you don't this part is just for people who are extra autistic/wanna be super authentic), you load up a small handheld bowl with rice, you grab a plate full of each of the dishes, then you go to town on your plate, all while picking up the rice bowl with one hand and using the chopsticks to shovel rice into your mouth. You don't use the chopsticks to pick up clumps of rice. And if you're at a restaurant with company, you never use your chopsticks to pick up food directly that's on the lazy Susan, there's always a service spoon/tongs that go with each dish. Here's a pro tip if you guys are ever in a group of Chinese people who you're close with, they gotta be good friends: if there's only one serving tongs and they're in use, I'd you're with close friends, you can just turn over your chopsticks and use the other side to pick stuff up. Don't do this in front of non friends or family though.

Sure you could spend a but extra and go with fried rice, but I'm not about that life; I don't like American Chinese fried rice, plus we don't typically eat it with our meals; for us it's mostly a leftovers thing that you cook up quickly for breakfast. I'm not denigrating your choices, I just would never hock out extra money for some shittily fried rice.

Finally in case any of you are curious, typically we don't eat specially created desserts in Chinese cuisine. Typically, we just have fruit. Most of the time it's a plate of orange or watermelon slices. If I'm making Chinese food at home for friends, I like to compromise and do a fruit medley.

You can do whatever you like of course, including ignoring my posts completely. But in case any of you were ever curious about a more authentic approach to Chinese food that doesn't involve eating a bunch of food you don't know and are afraid to try, well here you go.

I've been craving egg foo yung lately. It's decent value. During childhood every so often we'd get big aluminum platters with multiple choices. The greasy crappy food goes best globbed together. Most here aren't stand alone Chinese and are mostly chip or fry shops that sell fish and burgers too.
