I just got back from an all-inclusive resort and one of the restaurants had a particularly good bar and bartender. I tried a ton of drinks I've never had and likely would never order at the kinds of bars I go to including

>aperol spritz
>old.fashioned
>tom Collins
>Sambuca (lit on fire)

The negroni was among my favorites but I also really like sambuca as a dessert liqueur. Tastes like licorice

Dunno if you live near a cosco but they actually have a house brand (kirkland) scotch that is surprisingly smooth. I've been doing black negronis/boulevardiers and manhattans lately (trying to find uses for the amaro I picked up), and a lot of tiki/fruity drinks because it's hot out, and I like fruit juice with my rum.
I might have some absinthe after dinner... it seems an over-proofed, cloudy cocktail in a dark basement, listening to jazz kind of evening.

its usually just younger spirit(because distillery warehouses often hold barrels for multiple other smaller distillers and will have to either invest in more warehouses being built to maintain their own production or sell some younger stock to make room while also making a small profit in the meantime) or something that was in an inactive cask/uncharacteristic(that if the distillery had the balls to try and sell as an NAS or otherwise with their name on it would tarnish their reputation as a single malt producer), bottled by Alexander Murray which is a pretty decent independent bottler who also does store brand bottlings for Total Wine alongside Suntory-Beam, Douglas Lang and Mitchell and Son's.
