I got banned months ago for asking a similar question, which is absurd. Certain types of bugs are in fact edible and therefore can be classified as "food." I doubt they taste good. Probably just bland. The fact is, since they are so fucking plentiful and they're going uneaten, we are effectively wasting a shitload of food. There's no excuse for that. Process and pretty them up if you must, but don't waste them. At the very least, they should be farmed and turned into pet food or food for homeless people. I guarantee you'd rather eat bugs than starve to death.

Only poor people starve to death. Not a great target demographic for your new product...8W0QX

why is /ck/ like this?

I've eaten silkworms a couple times.
They taste like what you'd think hay tastes like, and had the texture of soggy croutons.

This. insects, crabs, lobsters and shrimp are arthropods alike. you are eating sea bugs. eating a land bug is literally the same thing.

It's possible that a contributing factor to the revulsion is the fact that with land bugs, you're eating the whole thing (the head, eyeballs, internal organs, etc). This can sort of be mitigated by removing the head and organs. Edible tarantulas, for example, I couldn't eat the whole thing. Hell no. The legs, maybe.

It's wine. These Chinese centipedes naturally maintain a body temperature of 430-440 degrees F so they make the wine boil when she dips them in.
