I really wanted to like injera, but the texture and taste are both pretty unappealing.

i fucking love sourdough bread so injera is so far up my alley it's not even funny. i love curries and spicy shit and i enjoy messy food. ethiopian is great. wish there was a place closer to where i live.

There's a pretty nice Ethiopian place near where I live. I went there a few weeks ago, and I can't say I was a huge fan. The spinach samosa type things we got as an appetizer were good, but I just couldn't enjoy the Injera with my entree, and that they served way too much of it. The meat was good though.

Joking aside, the food isn’t bad.
Unfortunately, the “bread” has the flavor/texture of a slice of kitchen sponge.

Worst food poisoning I've ever seen anyone get was my ex-GF after eating Ethiopian together. We ate the same thing, except I avoided the potatoes because I was paleo. She ate them and got violently ill almost immediately and it lasted all night

Ethiopian food is pretty good. I wouldn't put it in my top 3 cuisines but I'd never turn a good Ethiopian restaurant down

Depends on the ethnicity. The Oromo are related to Somalis, as they're both Cushites, but the Oromo usually lean more towards sub-Saharan African ancestry, while Somalis are more or less 50/50. Amhara people are Semitic (by language) and have a little more West Eurasian ancestry, and are usually lighter skinned.
