You can learn to like cooking fish nicely and then learn to like eating fish too.

I have a full freezer full of fish but don't want to eat them.

The only fish I really like it battered fried fish but the fish I catch aren't really worth filetting since you'd lose a ton of meat.

>> No.16382811

you can catch and release i suppose

Catch and release is forbidden. If it is big enough to take you have to take the fish.

Fish is great for sport, but not for eating. Fish meat is basically a vegetable.

You should try it once. It's actually fun with a friend or just by yourself.
It's a time to meditate or catch up on podcasts for me.

I used to do it a lot as a kid and started to feel so bad. Sometimes the hook wouldn't come out that easily and they'd end up with a bigger hole from trying to get it out, and one time the hook came out near the fish's eye which was sad. Saw another kid who couldn't get the hook out just start casting the fish back into the water. It's one thing if you're trying to feed yourself but I couldn't enjoy doing that to them anymore just for fun.

You can flatten the barb or use barbless hooks if you have a hard time getting the hook out.

Man I wish I had those as a kid so those things wouldn't have happened. That's probably why I just started catching frogs and shit with my bare hands more then letting them go since it didn't really hurt them. Maybe I'm getting old but if I was going to do something like that again I'd probably just go feed them instead.

Oh yeah, or just regular needlenose pliers.

That's literally EVERY bass fisherman in the country, literally a billion dollar industry of catching and releasing a meme fish
