Never tried corn oil before. Only used sunflower oil, refined and not. Does corn oil taste better or have any other advantages over it? I'm planning to use it on salads and pasta.

It's filled with PUFAs, avoid and use lard or tallow instead

imagine having an anxiety attack over using a different oil.

you got me wrong. i simply never tried it and i don't want to buy a whole bottle of oil to realize it tastes like shit.

From a health perspective, it's highly inflammatory. It's not particularly impressive from a culinary perspective either. Suppose the only reason to use it is that it's on the shelf, cheap, and can have a smoke point as high as 450F. However for just a bit more you can buy avocado oil with smoke point of 520F which is also more healthful and plenty available. It's very similar to peanut oil while being cheaper but with less flavour and culinary uses.

The only reason it's really used is because Americans have a lot of corn. It's a product of national policy and tariffs not customer demand. I see no reason you should ever use it outside of the nichest of scenarios. Even Soybean oil is better than this and that's really pretty sad.

It's not super flavorful but you can still detect some corn flavor in there. Kind of like how popcorn smells. I can see that working with some things but I'm not sure how it'd be on salad and pasta.

If you're looking for a salad oil you want something with as little flavour as possible anyways like whore grade olive oil, not the virgin stuff, the stuff that has been pressed a bunch of times already. However you need to make a fucking LOT of salad dressing to go through an entire bottle.

Just regular olive oil or canola will work fine for dressings.

you're obsessed with Americans way too much. I'm actually Russian, and that's why I've never had corn oil in the first place.

i won't be surprised if some ketard unironically uses this.

americans use massiv amount of corn, and corn oil, so it would be making a lot of sense of you to be american.

if you want to fry stuff, in a pan use a bit of sunflower oil or arachid, if you to deep fry its only sunflower oil. for Every thing else use olive oil, it's tasty and healthy. must be hard to find in russia though

no, we have pretty much any kind of oil they sell in most countries, except maybe canola. I forgot to say I tried olive oil a few times, but I dislike the taste. I was curious because I see corn oil here somewhat often.

The kind of olive oil you ideally use for salad dressings has a much milder taste. I honestly think if you're writing off both olive and canola corn isn't THAT bad of a choice other than being inflammatory? From a culinary perspective could also consider sunflower & soybean. Most of these oils are not very good for you aside from olive.

It's called many names, usually will have some reference to it being "light" or "low taste". This may be more appetizing for you.

Ok. I didn't know this existed. Indeed, the taste of olive oil I tried was a bit too strong, so I'll look into it.

Suitable for salad, you can simply eat with bread. It will not replace sunflower oil, but it is good for a change.
>>16371199
Пpивeт! This is strange. I remember in the late 90s/early 00s there was quite a lot of corn oil in the store, our family sometimes bought it. Then it disappeared somewhere, I some years ago wanted corn oil and could not find it on the shelf. Now it seems to be appearing again in ordinary grocery stores, periodically began to notice.

Yeah it is kind of weird. I usually find 1-3 kinds of corn oil in most grocery stores nowadays. I don't recall seeing it before.

olive oil would be much tastier and healthier if you plan on using it for salads. i find the corn aftertaste unpalatable in fried foods alone and leaves you with a heavy feeling

I use mostly canola and sesame oil.
Canola for frying, sesame for flavor

This stuff is all fake olive oil
any of these light olive oils are just palm kernel oil
