Why in the fuck are bell peppers in almost all Asian cooking from take outs, wok kits and recipes online? It doesn't add flavour and only works as a bulk up.
I rarely see bell peppers used in actual Asian cuisine when people live or travel there.

At best they add a sickly sweet flavour which I can kind of understand with tomato, but in most stir fries or curries just doesn't go?

What are you talking about
Plenty of stirfries incorporate sweetness, as well as bitterness which green provides

A bell pepper contains more than three times the vitamin c of an orange. You should basically eat a pepper per day.

An orange is like 30mg Vitamin C while a pill is like 3000, and you need even more than that to stay healthy. Modern food leads to starvation because of how nutrient deficient they are.

If you think Chinese takeout places are not adding several tablespoons of sugar to your takeout, you're sadly deluded. Sweet'n'sour sauce is primarily made from sugar, vinegar and food coloring.

That's exactly my point, but why the fuck do Chinese restaurants in the west keep adding them to almost all their dishes where they don't add anything but mass?

I base this partially on a teriyaki dish I once got from a Chinese restaurant and it was very unappealing. it was green peppers which is worse than red peppers. I can understand the flavour of red peppers actually being good in some food, but green is just unripe flavours and that only works in it's fresh rendition.

I agree. I don't really like the taste of bell peppers in most things. It's kinda sickly sweet. I like fajitas, green peppers in cajun trinity, and green peppers on pizza. Also stuffed peppers are great. Everywhere else it's just kinda gross.

Celery is the best aromatic vegetable. Chicken soup wouldn't taste the same without celery. It gives a wonderful crunch to chicken salad.

It's because of the color. Amateur chefs are like "let's add pepper for contrast of color so the dish looks pretty" without giving any heed to the flavor it adds. Kinda like using paprika or dried parsley for garnish

What I remember as chinese food growing up as a young kid in Hong Kong

>turtle/shark fin soup
>fried chicken feet
>pig uterus noodles
>fried rice with pork knuckle gristle
>unidentifed fish balls on a stick
>boiled dog meat
>one time, monkey brains

Americans have no idea how bad it really is. No one in china knows what the fuck beef and broccoli is or sweet and sour pork. Chinese food is disgusting. Literally the worst parts to eat of any animal. Makes sense because chinks are the race of humans closest to animals. They make disgusting noises when they eat, slurp everything, men in the streets lift their fucking wife beaters over their sweaty stomachs while laughing and chewing with their mouths full of food. Like what kind of idiot decided 2 sticks is the most practical way to eat grains of fucking rice. Starving Nigerians who eat grass have a better diet than the average chinese.

That's exactly why it's common in Asian takeout. Those places operate on tight profit margins, and filling up the takeout container with something cheaper than meat that mostly just takes on the flavor of the sauce it's cooked in is good for business.

It's disappointing. Guess I'll have to improve my Chinese cooking so I don't need to get take out.
