Broil the bread with a small amount of cheddar first until it gets brown and crusty, then put the rest of your cheese on and cook it in the pan like usual. Nice way to get more flavors and textures just from the cheese itself.

Also I like to have mine with mustard, or sage and black pepper which pair pretty well cheddar.

White bread, none of that healthy shit. I like Oroweat Country White.
Butter(REAL BUTTER), preferable LoL with Olive oil.
American cheese, cheeder, and gouda.
Butter both sides of bread and melt it in the pan.
Add a tiny bit of Gulden's mustard (that's the secret to God-tier grilled cheese)
Fry it up, when you flip it smash it down with your spatula.
Cut into triangles.
Wa la.

Using mayo seems more like a novelty because people don't know it's mostly oil, but not that it's actually better. I like mayo but it's mostly made with refined oil that doesn't have much flavor and can't compare to browned butter. It's not even really more convenient as you can just melt the butter directly in the pan if it's cold.

Whenever you ask this question, no matter what it is in relation to, the answer is always "Yes". Why? Because we're fucking Americans, and we do whatever we want. Put 10 slices of cheese on our sandwich? Use oil and butter? Go to the Moon? Win every world war? Have the only culture worth talking about in the entire world?

You're god damn right we really do. Because we're American, and you aren't. And that just pisses you off.
