Most restaurants are/were built slab-on-grade. So you either had a concrete floor, tile, laminates, or carpet. Laminates back in the 80's and even into the 90's were trash, and nobody in their right mind would put ceramic on a restaurant floor that would be scratched all to hell within a month. That meant carpet, or bare concrete.

I wouldn't say it was nice. But I have old memories there so I try to eat inside them whenever it's possible. We uses to spend Sundays through Tueaday with my dad and we'd go out to Pizza Hut once a month. Him, my brothers, and myself. Double order of breadsticks, large wings, large pan pepperoni. Man, those were good times.
