My friend being the nice guy that he is invites him to our table. Big mistake. The man talked at us for about an hour before we had had enough. The only thing I wasnt that aware of was the "and one for yourself" rule. I've never seen my friends do this either. I guess I've never gotten fucked up at a pub here and I usually only go to one for a pint or a g&t and usually on a weekday afternoon rather than peak times. Is this more of a regional thing maybe? In Portsmouth at least, I havent seen this.
