Our version, Hungry Jacks, is fine, albeit overpriced for what it is. Everywhere else in the world I've had it has been fine. Even at a Chinese airport. Canada is right next door to you and also tastes fine. The meal I had in California was virtually inedible and I didn't even finish it.

They're incredibly inconsistent in quality. What you get heavily depends on the specific BK you go to. Besides that, they haven't done anything to redeem their image in years. It sucks because I actually love their food but it's such a gamble that it's not even worth it.

They switched from mayo to miracle whip in order to appeal to the beyond meat faggots. They did that a few months ago and you can taste it on the burgers and chicken sandwiches.

Burgers have diminishing returns. A burger at a sit-down restaurant costs a lot more than a cheap burger from McDonalds or White Castle, but it doesn't taste proportionally better.
BK targets the in-between area. Slightly higher class than most fast food burgers, but less expensive and more convenient than burgers at traditional sit-down restaurants.
The problem is that BK burgers achieving their "slightly higher class" quality is highly dependent on execution. The difference between a McDouble put together by some peppy teen working their first job seriously and a McDouble put together by a 28 year old illegal immigrant isn't really noticeable. But the difference between a BK burger freshly made by someone who cares and a BK burger put together by someone who doesn't give a shit working together with other people who don't give a shit... it's very noticeable.
If you can, try to find a BK whose location and staff are similar to those you see for Chik-fil-a. And then compare it to a run-of-the-mill BK that always seems to be located in a cheaper or more-run-down part of town. Then for science do the same for stuff like McDonalds. You'll see how BK varies more.

I think an important thing to note is that the "status" and "quality" of chain resterants often changes across contries and is often controlled by regional hq. Fast food is almost always seen as a third class thing in the us, and the food is as acordingly, while in other locations it is seen as slightly more prestiges, so they give slightly more of a fuck.

Burger King used to be the shit. I would actually go there slightly more than mcdonalds but over the last ten years somehow they've become the worst food ever. Idk what the fuck it is but it's either a decline in quality ingredients, or what I suspect is decline in quality employees. They hire the shittiest fucking people. serving old food, burning food, not knowing what the fuck to do ever, closing early. No clue if they're majorly different in states, but in UK, BK are one of the better ones imo (that's not saying much but y'know), maccy's are about same level but I prefer BK, Five Guys is better but also cost more, only ever seen one Wendy's over here and they were shit (and in a services, so the quality ain't surprising).

I enjoy BK. they're by far the most consistent which is usually a thing said of McDonalds but I'll skip McDonalds if it's the afternoon because I'll probably get lunch leftovers. I've never gotten a whopper that wasn't precisely uniform regardless of the time of day, it's uncanny. also they get the flavors right, like the veggies are actually enjoyable whereas most places the tomato is hardly ripe, for example. five guys is the worst fast food burger. I've never caught a hint of seasoning or flavor from them, it's why people that go there pile on a bunch of meme toppings.
