no it's not. birds are extremely vulnerable to environmental pollution. their lungs are made for very fast oxygen absorption and a side effect of this is molecules like the one causing PTFE fever is going right thru the cells and into the blood stream. Human lungs aren't like that. PTFE cookware is safe and you should definitely buy one for yourself and more for your family, they make great gift!

Bird lungs are extremely sensitive to drops in air quality and will succumb to even the tiniest quantities of airborne poisons, quantities so tiny that they're basically completely harmless to a human. There's this webm of a guy shoving a lit cigarette into a Cardinal's beak and it basically just dies in like 20 seconds from the smoke, doesn't mean cigarettes are going to kill a person THAT fast though.

No. You can use non stick on gas stove. Even if you heat the cookware at the smoking point of oil, you're still good. You could melt lead at the temperature PTFE starts to degrade.

so i have this $4 kmart non stick frypan... i purchased a frozen pizza from aldis for $3. I got incredibly drunk last week, and decided to cook it in the frypan. the entire bottom of the pizza ended up burnt through, with the toppings just 'warm'. around 15 min after eating, i vomited the pizza up. I fell asleep, and when i woke up at 8am, i could not stop vomiting for around 10 hrs. apparently i got 'teflon poisoning' since i superheated the pan.

i still use the pan, and just dont set the burner to max for 20min

The other anon answered you, but I'll add that if you have a gas stove maybe try investing in a carbon steel skillet. You'll be able to easily stove-top season it, and they work as well or better than a lot of non-stick skillets I've ever used. If you want to look at some, I own a Matfer 8" and love it; they sell bigger sizes, and Matfer welds their handles so there aren't annoying rivets to clean or work around in the cooking interior.
