Inspired by the omad nigga's thread. Do you take it personally/are offended if someone dosent like your cooking? Are you offended when someone dosent like your cultures cooking?

No and also yes. It's more offensive when people pretend to like it, rarely happens though unless I'm winging the ingredient ratios.

I have a few of my own recipes and they've got nothing but praise, even by my chef ex-boss. If someone said they hated any of them, yeah, i'd be upset and tell them to get the fuck out.

>> No.16235722

It's pretty rare someone doesn't like my cooking. If someone is going to be over for a meal they already know what they're having or I'll give them 2 options. For example I'll have chicken breast and ask if they'd like a curry or a chicken and leek pasta dish in a white sauce. The only time someone hasn't liked my cooking was a friend but he was a basic bitch and I did not cater to his child's palate.

>>16235703
No, but I do get offended when an adult has a child’s palate, though that’s not really “offended”, it’s more like it disgusts me/fills me with derision and it’s usually when our having dinner with people that I see it rather than in meals I cook for them.

>> No.16235833

I always like receiving criticism. There are two possibilities:
1. The criticism is legitimate and there's some flaw in the food. This is helpful because now I can improve the dish.
2. The criticism isn't legitimate. The food is fine, the person just has shit taste. This is also helpful because now I can ignore any opinions that this person has in the future.

If you are cooking adults meals you better be their wife lol

If the meal is free and presented with good intentions, complaining about what is served to you is rude and lacking in decency. It is OK to politely decline something you know you will not enjoy or not finish as to not waste food. I accept criticism and critiques when appropriate and will discard opinions that are based in personal preferences (e.g. dislike of alliums).

>> No.16235864

nah you can't really afford to do so when you cook for a house of picky eaters so eventually you stop making what you want to and just make things that they'll eat and not shit their pants and cry over

I mean... kind of. I put a lot of time and effort into learning how to cook. Most people overdo the kudos (which is worse). I can only think of two people who were just open about disliking what I made - with one, it was too spicy, and the other had one thing I made for a buffet at a house party, and spent the next half hour telling me how my cooking's shit. I forget what exactly it was about, but I remember it being that he was expecting one thing and got another. Meanwhile, the buffet table and all the backups were picked clean in under 2h.

I'm definitely not offended when people don't like Swedish cuisine. A lot of it is terrible.

This is going to sound odd to you, but some people have recurring, face-to-face social interactions with other people. Sometimes they even form non-sexual social bonds.

My wife's Asian and she refuses to eat burgers or fries and only wants to eat fucking rice with every meal. I refuse to cook rice now and it's at the point I don't even bother cooking anymore because when I do my best she refuses to eat. So starve to death for all I care.
My culture is chips, mash potato, peas, I don't give a fuck about rice

I'm usually the first to know when I've fucked up a meal and will own up to it proactively and to an annoying extent even. But if I make something I'm proud of and they don't like it, I know I'm not the problem.
