they use cows that are quite lean at a specific age, they squish the patties very thinly and then flash freeze the patties, then they are clamshell grilled 25~ seconds each side, then seasoned with salt and pepper

I'm not debating that. When H.J. Heinz developed his ketchup recipe in the late 1800's he 1.) used clear glass bottles to show his customers that his product was safe and shelf stable and 2.) perfected it's flavor where it hit all the flavor profiles.
This made it perfect for concealing the taste of rancid meats that were prevalently sold in the US at the time, so it took off like a rocket in the culinary world because it's flavor profile is so overwhelming that it'll cover up damn near anything.

From what I've learned, it's really almost a jerky type of meat. It can last up to weeks, it's small enough to not attract too much bacteria until after a certain amount of time, and it's so damn seasoned that it can withstand various temp changes.

But now, they are cost competitive with literally every other fast food joint in the area, and in some menu items, fast casual and low end restaurant chains. It's brand clout at this point.
