Why do Americanos put additional meat on their hot dogs?

Same reason French put additional meat in their meat, I guess. Because it’s good.

Never really thought about it, as I’m not obsessed with another country.

americans have lots of money and lots of food so why not, while non-americans can barely afford one pound of sausage per week so they never think to make stuff like this.

we put carbs on our carbs
we put cheese on our cheese
we drink pure sugar
we piss pure orange
we cook our food by soaking it in oil
we have more fat in our arteries than you do in your whole body
and you can be damn sure we put meat on our meat
deal with it

Because culturally they're from hard working people who emigrated half-way across the globe to build a country with their bare hands and tenacity, with God on their side. This was a an energy intensive endeavour that required calorific food stuffs.

probably the same way almost any other food is invented. Either out of necessity or by mistake.

I see your point but I don't really think that's the same. With something like the pic you posted you've created a new unity, kinda like a sausage. Combining meats is fine. But with the cony dog you're just slapping a sloppy mess upon a long piece of meat.

Just don't see the point in adding minced meat, where I live it's popular to top hot dogs with creamy potato salad, crisp onions or even shrimp salad, pic related

Because it tastes good and is fairly filling. I have fond memories of back when I was working a particular job, and during my lunch breaks I'd like to drive to the local 7/11 to get a dog. Smothered that bitch in chili, nacho cheese and a bunch of jalapenos and ate that fucker in my car with a fork.

It tastes good. Especially with some raw onions. And its not just ground beef, its chili, which has particular spices and is kinda like a stew and can include beans and tomatoes and other things. Though I think its more the norm to use cheap canned chili for hot dogs. At least it was in my family. If we made actual chili we would just eat it with bread usually, and crumble ritz crackers and put cheese, and sometimes raw diced onions in at the table.
