People are dropping like flies. I started working at a restaraunt like 3 months ago. Since then:

I studied engineering early on before even STEM got devalued by the labor surplus and flood of H1Bs. But I can still recognize that across the board, even in fields formally known for high incomes, wages have stagnated and cost of living has exploded. This country was sold down the river for cheap Walmart shit and the stock market.

The government forced restaurants to close down then follow a bunch of constantly-changing health directives when they were allowed to reopen over the past year, all of which reduced their income while driving up operating costs, then increased incentives for workers to not seek employment as all the places that were forced to close or reduce staff were beginning to return to normal operations and attempting to increase hiring.

And now unskilled tiktokers who are mad they can't afford to buy a house working at McDonald's are celebrating the impending failure of most of the country's locally owned restaurants because it'll all be worth it when they move up from making $7.25/hr minimum wage doing brain dead unskilled work to making $15 minimum wage and literally nothing about their lives changes.
