I live rather close to a chicken processing plant and it employs exclusively Mexicans, so the local Mexican restaurants aren't your usual "microwave and serve" burritos. Even though there aren't many options for eating around here I still don't go to the Mexican places very often because not all the employees speak English and the food is only decent. To genuinely answer your question if you're ever passing through Texas: The mid 1800's had a shitload of Germans immigrate to Texas and started there own settlements, which have remained pretty much unchanged. So if you're ever on I-20 just look on your phone for some town near you with a German sounding name, and chances are they will have fucking amazing, authentic German food.

I would say way overrated rather than terrible. They have some very good restaurants, but a lot are absolutely shit tier. Their pricing is normally pretty out of wack too and a lot of the successful restaurants rely solely on their name and/or owners popularity.

I guess I just have a difficulty with you saying mistake and low-tier. There is nothing that inherently makes them low-tier if high quality ingredients are used.

Additionally, I don't think every meal has to be this amazing culinary experience that transcends all prior meals. Look at a lot of great chefs on instagram, even those guys throw together low effort meals with unideal ingredients because you need to use what you have available.

I think this is also how a lot of great food made, through necessity and what is available people are able to use creativity to invent new and exciting dishes. It's good to have constraints and adversity, it enhances innovation. Hopping on the last Joshua Wiesman bandwagon and acting like you're above certain types of food to me is cringe and try-hard behavior.
