memes asides is a propane grill objectively better than charcoal grill?

>> No.16181297

yeah
with propane you taste the meat and not the heat

It depends on what you want out of your grill. Maximum flavor? Charcoal grill. Maximum convenience? Gas. Some people use a grill so they can cook shit without having to do as many dishes.

Easier. Even easier is having a natty gas line hooked up to your house. The true level up.

Convenience, less carcinogens, can't think of anything else. This is why they had the episode where Peggy and Bobby discover charcoal tastes better, they just choose propane for Hank

Aside from >>16181299, most arguments between charcoal and propane are contextual to how the grill is going to be used. That being said, propane grills have more potential failure points than charcoal grills but it's highly unlikely that will ever be a serious concern.

Apparently as a kid a propane tank exploded a few streets over in my neighborhood, apparently it shook the windows of my house and sounded like a giant bomb went off, everyone in my house woke up and freaked out
I say apparently cause I have 0 memory of it and only found out the next day when they told me, but I'm a super deep sleeper lol

99% of buildings have gas lines for heating even if they don't have gas stoves. Gas explosions are extremely rare.

Insanely easy to just do a quick BBQ, eg if it's a nice night, you have a beer and just want to knock something up that'll be ready in 15 minutes. Also dramatically easier to use

I prefer the flavour of charcoal but I'm going to buy a gas BBQ purely for ease of use.

>> No.16183261

propane is easier to use. charcoal has better flavour. i think charcoal is easier to clean.

If it's gas, it's not a grill.

I used to BBQ in the middle of canadian winters with my little gas unit, good luck doing that with char.

>> No.16183558

I do enjoy the "ritual" of heating up coals, distributing around the grill, heat management, etc. Standing out in your freshly mowed backyard with a cold beer and working the charcoal grill on a Saturday afternoon is a tough experience to beat. The flavor is a nice bonus but I usually think more about the experience. But if I want to just efficiently prepare 2lbs of chicken breast to eat during the week then propane is impossible to beat. I guess in a perfect world I would want both.

Depends if you like the charcoal-ey taste. I would say smokers are the best. Propane is good because you can fire it up quick and bbq every night with no cleanup like me. Charcoal takes more effort but I think tastes better personally.
