Ayy the KM was the tits. The rig was kinda an impulse buy since me and the missus saw our neighbors heating up some coals. We used to smoke when we were younger and we missed it so we grabbed a cheapo from the local shop. As for the HMD, an anon (might have been you) from a previous tobac thread recommend it. If it was you, thanks for the tip. This shit is a game changer. I can smoke a packed bowl for about 1.5 hours with zero harshness. I actually got it from amazon for $25 freedom bucks. It seems amazon carrys the factory rejects and sells them at a deep discount. The edges are a bit rough but otherwise works perfectly fine.

>> No.16168241

>>16168192
Pipes are tastier. Get these exact things:
>orlik golden sliced tobacco
>peterson nightcap tobacco
>samuel gawith lakeland flake (any of them work, hansom flake is the most obtainable and has a strong chocolate/geranium note behind good tobacco)
>molto dolce for an aromatic
>any briar pipe in a billiard shape, I recommend stanwell
>a tamper (you don't need a czech tool, those are a meme)
Pipes are tasty, the smoke is milder than cigars (you can retrohale the entire mouthful of pipe smoke, whereas doing the same with a cigar is extremely harsh), and it is far cheaper for the same satisfaction.

Pipes are a bigger initial investment, even a cheap corncob (don't bother with anything but Missouri Meerschaum, and even then only fuck with their filtered pipes if you want a good smoke). If you're just an occasional smoker, cigars are a better option. Pipes also have a bit of a learning curve, whereas cigars you just need to light up with a wooden match or jet lighter and puff away!
That being said, imo a nice pure virginia flake pipe is better tasting to me than most cigars, although I like pretty much all tobacco I've tried.

I like to cut open one cig from a new brand I've tried (I re-roll it later) to see the quality. Marlboro and Camels all have like 10-20% processed stems, and cheap-ass economy brands are like 30% sometimes. The Luckies have nice, springy tobacco leaves, and I found 1 stem that was probably just a central vein in a leaf. They have a aromatic, perfumey odor. I quit for a while, but these bastards got me back smoking cigs when I saw them on the shelf.

Not sure that I'd agree on that. You can get a Missouri Meerschaum corn cob pipe, a pack of 100 cleaners, a pipe tool, and 50g-100g of good tobacco for $20-$30, which will keep you smoking for months as an occasional smoker. Whereas $20-$30 of cigars will get you a handful of smokes (around $5-$10 per single, depending on quality and size).

If you want to keep a cigar in good condition for the long term, you'll need a humidor and have to keep it maintained. Pipe tobacco, on the other hand, easily stores perfectly well in a sealed glass jar for years, without needing much maintenance.

That said, I encourage people to try both, and go with what they like. Both pipes and cigars are great ways to relax, and offer a ton of exploration of flavors, scents, and craftsmanship.

The cheapest cutter you should be using is the punch off a lighter, or the plastic xikar xi2(?). They can normally be snagged off cbid for ~$20 and they've got a lifetime swap out.

I bought some pipe tobacco many a year ago. It has been stored in a dark and dry environment, in room temperature. It is dried out, but still smells just as good as ever, and there are no traces of anything growing on it. I doubt that smoking it would be very pleasant (correct me if I'm wrong though) but can this be used for anything else?
