No, it fucking isnt, because all the fat gets rendered out thhat way and the sausages become leathery mummys. They shouldnt even burst when on the grill or in the pan. Preheat them in hot water, then sear and brown them short and sharp for a minute on each side, done.

When I make chili I do half lean ground beef (93/7) and half spicy italian sausage. You have to buy the sausage in the casing and take the filling out. It tastes so much better than just buying the filling.
