>Most micro breweries here just crank out 10 "different" IPAs
These days, what most people think are “micro breweries” actually aren’t.
They’re just contracted production brews with a custom label.

It’s the same as how you can order a production run of some item from a factory in China, and they stamp it with your “brand”.
Or like how e-celebs will have their own “coffee blend”.
The reason these beers are multiplying daily is that startup costs and brewing equipment is no longer an initial factor.
You literally just pay an in independent brewer to produce X cases/pallets of whatever bullshit recipe you hand them.
They don’t give a fuck if it’s shit or doesn’t sell because you’re already paying them for every drop and their name is nowhere on it.
The biggest dead giveaway for this is found on a big majority of this shit, and is clearly present in OP’s pic; it literally doesn’t even have its own can.
It’s packaged in a generic plain silver aluminum can, and an adhesive label is stuck around the side.
Even the people contracting it know it isn’t gonna sell enough to warrant designing/ordering a product-specific can, so they just print some labels instead.

Your point is absolute bullshit. It doesn't matter who owns the equipment. And you using terms like "nowadays" is misleading because this isn't even remotely a new phenomenon. For most of the beer industry's world it was unreasonable to own your own equipment if you weren't building for scale, and so many microbreweries got their start by contract brewing with larger facilities. It was only recently that in many states microbreweries could start selling their own beer to the public.
>multiplying daily
That stopped happening 3 years ago. Brewery openings were declining before covid had anything to do with it. Beer sales in the craft sector haven't grown nearly as fast as most other sectors such as wine, seltzers, premixed, and even some spirits. The millennial was our number one target demographic for craft beer such as IPAs or Stouts. Now they drink seltzers and wine.
tl;dr your post reads like a modern journalist - toe deep understanding of what's going on in our industry.

Some are more tolerable than others, some have a gimmick (eg super hoppy) that make them "drinkabke" but at the end of the day it's all kind of bad tasting rotted grain water? I never got it. Not a chance in hell I'd drink beer if it didn't contain alcohol either, so it's not like you drink for taste right?

I'm a full blown vodka alcoholic as well so I'm not biased. I mean if you're drinking why ingest all that water and carbs and revolting taste and shit? Get a stronger cheaper harder hit off the vodka, you can add mixers so it actually tastes okay (oj, sparkling water, cranberry juice, etc).

And you can hardly even get drunk off beer anyway. I legit cannot get drunk off pisswater beer, my stomach is physically too small to swallow enough to get drunk. I just feel.sick bloated and tired, and need to piss 8 million times. And the hangovers off vodka are far better than beer hangovers.

Anything according to BJCP (heh heh) guidelines has a fairly narrow scope, but you can always push the boundaries or ignore them completely. I've used newfangled IPA hops, unorthodox grain bills, and odd choices of yeast on my last three dark ales, and they've been great. The last one was Hornendal Kveik with a last minute double dip of Galaxy and Callista. It wound up with a tart sour-plum kind of finish to it, which was nice because the beer was pretty heavy.

I drink on average 4 beers a day, of all types and flavours. I don't see why some people gatekeep a specific type, there is no certain prestige of drinking something "unique".

Tropical IPAs are great at times and fruity sour ales can be interesting. Barley Wines, strong ales and imperial porters/stouts also have their place. But a great lager or ale is almost always a great choice.

We actually have excellent microbreweries, but opening up a brewery has become sort of a trend. Now every little neighborhood has its own brewery, but most of them just make flavored IPAs to mask any actual beer flavor, because they aren't made by professional brewers.

I've never understood this (trend? meme?). If you can't make beer, you can't make beer. The amount of hops you throw at it should only help so much. There are so many resources available to help nail down grain bills, flavour profiles, temperatures and control, proper sanitation, etc. that I just can't wrap my head around someone taking the leap from $200 worth of pots, jugs (carboys), coolers, and some plumbing right into hundred-thousand dollar kettles and a warehouse rental without knowing how to make a good beer. That's a hell of an investment for small returns, even if you know your product and its market.

IPAs here seem to be used to set a base price point, allowing less hoppy beers to be sold at a greater profit, and to offset the storage and HVAC cost of lagering lagers.

I loved the flavour of beer and wine even as a kid when I first tried it, who knows, maybe it was cos it was kind of novel and exciting drinking booze for the first time but I never had to 'keep drinking until I developed a taste for it'

I would've tried that but I saw the regular is 30 IBU and Cold Snap is 10 IBU, and I prefer more bitter beers

Yeah I hate prohibition for wiping out American beer culture. Cocktails made a recovery but it's crazy that for like 50 years people only had pisswater American lagers to choose from.

I'm curious enough to try it (sorry to interject myself), but I'm not usually big on oak or buttery whiskey flavours in beer - sometimes it works, a lot of the time it just doesn't do it for me.

I might move back to Chambly, start a Belge-off with Unibroue - long boring backstory, but one or two of my beers got passed along to them along with my email in 2019, and they've been talking mad shit at me since ('You're unwelcome in Chambly and the general southeast of Montreal, but if you find yourself here, we should have a chat and drink some beer.')
