I almost went to prison once but got out of it, so I never had to become a chef.

What's with the dislike of actual chefs?

for every marco peiere white there are 1000x mexicans and felons who got there because it was the only job that would hire them. if you like to cook, cook. but lets not pretend almost every "professional chef" isn't a fucking hack that knows almost nothing.

Our lives are not that interesting to the average person. Ive been working in restaurants for 10+ years never stayed at the same job for more than a year. Met a ridiculous amount of people, made so many friends, had the craziest late nights, banged so many waitresses and learned so many skills, but like most chefs the hours get to you and the lifestyle wears you down. You get burnt out and cope by late night drinking and bar food. Youre always slighty hungover and always tired. Its easy to lose track of your goals.

Same. The 'rona was the best thing that happened to me in a long while because I got furloughed. It was great fun staying up till 1am each night, playing pubg with the other chefs or getting drunk, but eventually it wears you down
14 hour days in December, constantly being busy, the heat and stress. Small kitchen was perpetually understaffed as well

I was never a proper chef, but I've worked line cook jobs in the past. You work your ass off but it's fine since you're fucked up 100% of the time. At least I was and so was everyone else that I worked with.
