Just get dough from your grocery store, along with the toppings, heat your oven to 500f with your pizza steal/stone, make your 5 ingredient sauce, cut and roll out dough, make pizza, cook pizza.

Sometimes I use my bread maker to make pizza dough. It's super fast and you don't need to make a trip to the store as long as you have the rest of the ingredients.

Truth
store bought pies are better than 99% of the population can make. even your grammas pie is shit compared to sara lee.

pizza from any restaurant is better than 80% of the pop can make.

companies spend years and tons of money perfecting products. you cannot compete.

As much as people make fun of Brits, Keats pies are a great, easy way to cook a lot of food. Shepherd's pie, or a meat pie using a real pie crust. Townsends has a recipe for Onion Pie as well that's really good and filling.

As for cost, first time home cooks usually bitch about the price because of up front costs. Oil, spices, etc. Once you buy all that shit though, and then buy a supply of carbs (bag of rice, etc), all you buy at the store is protein and veggies

>> No.16020868

It's not cheaper because you can't take advantage of economies of scale, and it's not better because you can't compete with industry experience. It's just obvious that people who say otherwise don't know what they're talking about.

The "make it yourself it's cheaper" people clearly don't value their own time very highly. If I charge myself what I charge the company that I work for, almost anything I make is more expensive than food delivery.

You people realize you're arguing about pizza right? It's basically the fried rice of western food. Not a big accomplishment to make it yourself, unhealthy for you no matter what you put on it, and everyone has their own opinion on how to make it.

The point of resturants is that they make the food you can't be assed to make at home. Now if this thread was about making piroshki, jiaozi, or naan then there's a conversation

I agree. I wanted to make scrambled eggs, they cost $0.99 at the 7-11. But to make them at home I needed to buy:
>eggs, cage free organic, $6.99 a dozen
>fridge to keep them cold, $1500
>cast iron skillet, $240 for a real nice one
>gas range, I went for a nicer one, $11,000
>kitchen sink, plus plumber, $2200
>dishwasher plus plumber, another $2200
>a house to store it all in, $325,000
>professional egg instruction, in person, from Michelan chef, $1800 airfare plus $4000 for a day's instruction

Total cost of making scrambled eggs yourself is literally $347,946.99 - who thinks this is cheaper than buying the eggs?
