I've done ramadan despite not being muslim, it's dumb easy if you're not working outside in the summer and sweating. It's also stupid because you're not allowed to drink water. But after a few days you get used to it.

I don't have a tip, but, one fact is that grocery stores in muslim countries sell more food during ramadan than the rest of the year - implying they are eating more than normal in the evenings. Make of that what you will.
I also had the idea "why don't you just sleep all day and stay awake all night" but my muslim friend said you're not allowed to adjust your sleep schedule to make it easier or it doesn't count.

The rules are that you can't consoom anything from sunup to sundown. You have to do all your water drinking in the evenings. It's probably bad for you but not that dangerous, nobody dies

thats a pretty stupid rule, does god go to sleep so you can eat behind his back without him knowing? at least christian fasting actually means fasting

Religious people love making up dumb rules, and then making up loopholes to get around them. It's all some stupid bullshit made up by a bronze-age desert-dwellers. Wiccans are the only ones around with a tolerable belief system, and they were invented in the 1960s.

>imf is not real fasting

Scientifically speaking (or physiologically) the defined period of time at which a person goes without food to be considered the start of a 'fast' is some 16 hours - this is when the bodies mechanisms start adjusting for the fact it is food deprived. As Ramadan is a roaming event in some months it does not count as 'true' fasting but in other months it does (as the period of time from dawn to dusk meets/exceeds 16 hours.

>>15964135
>it's dumb easy

As mentioned the period of time that counts toward the fast varies depending on month and geography.

>It's also stupid

A dry fast is perfectly legitimate too.

>implying they are eating more than normal in the evenings

For some this is an established fact and observation - you have not made any intelligent insight at all. For other households this does not hold true. For some the breaking of the fast is a big communal thing each evening where the community gets together and you eat with neighbours - it therefore also makes sense that the increase is food is not necessarily because people are splurging more on average but because they are putting more effort into big meals for a community.

>but my muslim friend said you're not allowed to adjust your sleep schedule to make it easier or it doesn't count.

Total rubbish. The only thing that truly invalidate a fast from a religious perspective is to not be humble and sincere in what you do. The ones who complain about being hungry or demand that non-Muslims abstain in their presence are the ones who invalidate their fast.

>>15964166
>You have to do all your water drinking in the evenings.

Between sunrise and sunset you abstain. The health effects are negligible over this duration.

>>15964177
>so you can eat behind his back without him knowing?

You are intentionally being stupid and obtuse in your understanding of what fasting means and what it means in a spiritual/religious context.

The reason for fasting is not losing weight. it's for self restraint. if a muslim just sleeps all day and stays up all night eating, there's no real benefit to fasting.

This, and pretty sure the fast is broken if you aren't up at the asscrack of dawn.

It's a nice practice in theory, though. Try throwing in some yoga or shit OP, the best part of morning prayer was getting the blood moving with the simple positions of salat
