why is this board so schizophrenic about raw fish? if you live in a first-world country any fish you buy in a supermarket has been flash-frozen, making it perfectly safe for raw consumption
not that i would recommend raw fish however as it tastes like nothing, you should brine it first

The local mong-patrol also has it in their heads that sashimi served in Japan is almost never frozen at sea immediately after being caught.
It’s a purely western thing, due to decades of “fresh, not frozen” advertising memes, and thinking that flash-freezing technology is the same as their shitty kitchen freezer.

Not cold enough or long enough to kill the parasites in the fish.

Most is but some of it is just packed in ice which might freeze it, but it might not.

One time I caught a fish and I was alone and I had watched too many sv3rige clips so I just straight up bit into while it was still alive, but it didn't taste too good, and it seemed like it would be hard to digest

We are talking first world countries. Not wanna be first world countries like USA. First world countries are Japan and Korea maybe New Zealand.
