the gmo "debate" is muddied to near-nonsense because technically speaking, "genetically modified" and "genetic engineering" can mean something as simple as selective breeding, which humans have been doing for pretty much as long as agriculture has existed (even if it wasn't really quantitatively analyzed until gregor mendel). but what is certain is that there is no way we would be able to feed the population that we have without our current level of technology. anything said otherwise is literally facebook post-tier nonsense by college dropouts with dreadlocks who run organic farms which can only feasibly exist as a niche luxury market.

Birds are still literally dinosaurs. They're just the only ones that survive until today.

>Ask your average paleontologist who is familiar with the phylogeny of vertebrates and they will probably tell you that yes, birds (avians) are dinosaurs.
>Using proper terminology, birds are avian dinosaurs; other dinosaurs are non-avian dinosaurs

GMO's seem so far like they really aren't that much worse than anything else in the modern food production machine. You have potatoes that literally excrete pesticide but if you go to a conventional farm they douse chemicals on it anayways so fuck it.
The thing with GMO's is that they are one of the greatest Pandora's box of human history. They're slamming genes together and seeing what's up. It's extremely imprecise, extremely unregulated and has an extremely vague understanding of the possible outcomes. Ecologically especially its a big concern, these crops aren't grown in a vacuum and we have no idea what would happen if a GMO crop cross pointed or "escaped" into the wild. Additionally Genes can leap between species, so that could be really fun. Meanwhile big agg is kind of just using forward with a "just trust me bro" kinda attitude.

>> No.15961063

>>15961046
I think some people are overly optimistic about it because it does have wonderful potential but ultimately as long as it being weilded by entities that already have a terrible track record for responsible agriculture it isn't going to be used for good. It's used to make tobacco more addictive or make it so they can spray more chemicals on it. That kind of shit. Monsanto doesn't give a fuck about giving your potatoes a higher nutritional value or curing blindness in Africa with rice or whatever.

When that shit happens it isn’t going to be the fault of responsible Dino-ranchers on Mars.
It’s going to be due to “Pit-Mommies” adopting baby velociraptors, as they’re the shitbulls of the dinosaur kingdom.

Pitbulls have had UKC and AKC recognition since like 1930 and the AKC then removed them for PR reasons. ABKC was created to register American Bullies which you'd have to be a lunatic to consider as a Pit Bull (though to be fair there's so many lines that basically could still have a much heavier AST mix). So I concede that what you may have demarcated as the same dogs are potentially from similar but not directly descending from foundation stock meaning there's technically no "closed" line of direct relation.

So the "real" kennel clubs are right not to allow them

Probably not actually, as a lot of their mass is ridiculously dense bones for a dog (I have one, a 9 month old and at 22" tall he weighs 60kg despite not appearing comically bodybuilder style overmuscled)

I'd imagine that much resources dedicated to frame is a waste

Yeah, patenting seeds and putting farmers in debt so they lose their farms really helps feed the planet...
